I spent 5 years working in corporate America after I graduated college. It was a great way for me to make money and begin my quest for independence. During that time I also always had a profound love and appreciation for nutrition. So much so, that I decided to further my education in nutrition while still working full time. After work, spend a few hours attending school in hopes to share my new food knowledge with my blog family. Here I am, 3 years later... I am no longer climbing the corporate ladder. I spend every day using my philosophy about food to create healthy recipes! I am literally living my dream. To this day, I love learning about the benefits of certain foods, and I am here to provide you with some of the nutrients found in this smoked salmon avocado toast so you can understand the science behind the phrase, "Food Is Medicine."
This Food For Life bread is the main bread I consume because it is made from sprouted grains. The starches in the grains are broken down into simple sugars so your body can digest them easier. Sprouted grains make your body more susceptible to absorbing the nutrients in the bread like calcium, magnesium, iron, copper and zinc. Best of all, sprouting grains releases more antioxidants in the body to help combat all of those free radicals.
Avocado contains Omega 6. Omega 6 helps thin the blood to improve the functioning of the nervous system. It helps reduce inflammation and therefore, improves your skin complexion.
The Everything But The Bagel Seasoning from Trader Joe's is an absolute hit in our home. It contains sesame seeds, garlic, onion black sesame seeds & poppy seeds. The sesame seeds contain vitamin E, which helps the body use oxygen and protects the cells from damage. If you have a wound, sesame seeds can help heal it too
Salmon is probably my favorite protein. It is a wonderful source of vitamin D. If you suffer with joint pain, backaches or muscle cramps, try incorporating more vitamin D into your diet. It also strengthens your bones!
